Vague allegations cannot be grounds for establishing negligence: Delhi consumer court exonerates ophthalmologist
Observing that vague allegations against a doctor are not enough to establish medical negligence, the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC) recently exonerated Ophthalmologist from charges of medical negligence while conducting Cataract Surgery on a patient who lost his vision following damages in the Pupil and Retina.
The State Consumer Court noted that the Complainant had not challenged the competency of Dr. Jain and therefore, it noted, "In the present case, the Complainant has vaguely alleged that the Opposite Party committed negligence in operating him, due to which his eye got damaged. However, this alone cannot be a ground for holding the Opposite Party liable for Medical Negligence since sometimes despite the best efforts, the patient may not favorably respond to a treatment given by the doctor, due to which the treatment of a doctor may fail."

NMC nod To 4 more MD psychiatry seats in GMC Srinagar
Bringing good news to the Postgraduate medical aspirants seeking to pursue Psychiatry, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its nod to increasing four MD Psychiatry seats in Government Medical College Srinagar.
With this, the total number of MD Psychiatry seats at the medical college will go to up twelve from eight. Admission to these new seats would commence from the academic year 2022-2023.

NEET frisking issue: NTA to hold re-exam for female candidates in 4 states
The National Testing Agency has decided to conduct NEET again for girl students, who were allegedly forced to remove their undergarments before entering an exam center in the Kollam district of Kerala last month.
The re-examination would be held on September 4, said the official sources on Saturday.
"The NTA has allowed the affected students to re-appear for the National Eligibility Entrance Test on September 4 in Kollam. Besides Kollam, re-examination will be held for the affected candidates of two centers in Rajasthan, two in Madhya Pradesh, and one in Uttar Pradesh," they said.
